Kerry a very happy rescue lab

I did many walks today sometimes with my dogs and sometimes with very special dogs....Kerry is a rescue labrador, she was rehomed at 11 and a half years old to a lovely lady (who herself is nearer to 90 than 80!) and Kerry just loves life especially her walks...today i decided to take my camera with me to show her owner what Kerry gets up to on a walk! as u can see she is having a ball with Jane's pack of 6 collies! it just shows that what ever age u rescue a dog they still have life in them!

And not to mention a cracking piccie of Briggsi (nearly 6 months old) lol

I have just heard back from Berts rehomer to say he went to his new home yesterday...he has gone to a family who already do agility with their other dogs! and the husband is a 'dog whisperer'!! Bert is going to be in his element and gr8 that he can carry on doing agility...im soo pleased he has found his new home so quickly and fingers crossed he settles in well.

Ill keep you updated as and when news comes in...

Tunbridge Wells Show

I thought i had lost these photos as my camera kept crashing on me ...as this was Berts last show i was desperate to fix this then i found out that my pc had downloaded them anyway!!

Bert has packed his bags and left!

Today was a very hard day...i decided at the beginning of the year to have Bertie rehomed...this was no fault of his own but as some of you know owning a hound and 3 other problem dogs is hard work and it just came to a head that Bert needed a home that had the space/time and energy to fulfill his needs 110% which i could not do...he also desperately needed a garden..he spent all day looking out of the window or starring at the front door even if he had just come back from a 2hr walk!

I know this may be a shock to some of you but this was a decision i made on my own as i didnt want anyone finding out before anyone else or having any opionion on the decision....i lived with Bertie and it was up to me to make the right decision for him and me...it was also becoming apparent the rest of my pack were turning against Bertie especially Cola...there relationship was deteriorating every week.

I have since decided to end my other blog as a tribute to Bertie and start afresh with the remaining Hooch n Troops!

I drove up to Peterborough services today to meet a great PBGV enthusiast and breeder and pet rehomer of the breed..Bert jumped up her as soon as he saw her so he obviously got good vibes from her..she has taken over the role of carer and potential rehomer (she has many years experience with this breed)...she has never had a dog returned to her that she has placed in a new home...i was undecided if it was better if i found Bert a new home or whether to leave it to the professionals! i decided that if i found him a home i would always be worrying about him and what happens if i placed him in the wrong environment....she will keep Bert either forever or until a suitable home is found...he has a potential couple coming to see him this weekend so fingers crossed they will be the right fit.

Tunbridge was a hard show for me as i knew that this would be Bertie last agility show with me and last runs...i was proud of him as he went clear in the Olympia q which made my day..i will treasure his clear round rosette!

I believe he is now encountering the next chapter in his life..he was never a dog that would stay in the one place he is too happy and full of life and needed to experience it to the full...even when i put him in the ladies car he just sat there looking for rabbits not even a glance back at me as we stood there chatting..he is going to be put in with another PBGV bitch (so he should be happy) and he will also b taken for walks everyday and have a massive paddock to run in all day long...he wont want to go to a new home after this!

He was a great dog and i loved the time that i owned him and competed in agility with him but it was time to move on for both of us...ill keep you updated on his progress...
