Yesterday was a very stressful day...it was a lovely day and we started our walk on the common with my two friends and their dogs after walking for 1.5hrs we decided to come back via the pond (too cool the dogs off)...well Peps had other ideas...she disappeared into a bush and i didnt see her again for 3hrs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I went looking for her but no sign at all...so decided to drop Hooch and Cola back home as they were tired and hot and i went back to the common to try and find her...it was now getting to 2hrs that she was missing and i just knew that she was either locked in somewhere or someone had picked her up...unfortunately the latter was true...BUT they didnt think to look at her collar where my phone no was in big flourescent writing (thanks Waggit) to ring me...after walking around the common and checking the stable yard and near the arabs house i eventually found out that she had gone to see the security men at their hut but 2hrs previously! it was now 5pm...we had started walking at 1pm! Whilst returning to look for her i bumped into a man who had a dog with him sitting ontop of the hill so i asked him if he had seen a black lab...he said no...but did ask some wierd questions...like what are you going to do if you dont find her!! i just replied ill keep looking..anyway it later transpires that HE had found her and decided to take Peps home with him!!! knowing damn well that i was still on the common trying to find her!! ahhhh some people think they are being helpful...anyway eventually his wife rang me to say had i lost a dog! i obviously said yes...time being now 5.20pm! and she said dont worry she is safe and well and very happy and did i want her back!!! it all made sense when i went to the house to get her as i was greeted by an older couple and what i presume is the daughter (40yrs plus!)and the dog that i saw with the foreign man...and again they said did i want her back as they were happy to keep her! It took them a while to release her from their flexi lead even though Peps had been soo happy to see me...and yet again i was told that her husband hadnt seen the phone no on her collar (this is the only thing written on her collar!!!!) and thought she would get run over...again there are no roads where we were on the common!!
all very strange....very pleased to have her back but it just shows never asume that your dog wont go off with anyone...and always have ID on them...i am now going to have to get a disc for Hooch as he has no ID on him...even though he doesnt leave my side..u never know...a hard lesson to learn but I am keeping a closer eye on Peps from now on...
